The message I found in today's scripture was encouraging us to not take God's grace for granted and to not lose focus on practicing Christianity. We are given all that we need, the grace of God and faith, but often we get too comfortable in these gifts and we become less vigilant about practicing our faith.
Last year, I took my faith for granted and lost focus on being loyal and faithful to God because my prayers had been answered. I found it harder to pray when I wasn’t in a time of need. Through Tuesday communion and Thursday morning prayer, I started to remember what was important to me and in my life, and I found god again. I realize now that everything good in my life was given to me by god. Losing focus on God is now harder for me to do because of that moment of growth. In Mark, it seemed to me like he was warning us, because if we lose focus and stop paying attention to god, then we will regret it when judgment day comes. Jesus told us to “Keep awake,” and I think Last year I was asleep. Joining TMP and Communion allowed me to wake up.
The message we should all keep in mind this week and forever is for everyone to wake up or stay awake.
